The Department is known in the field of quality teaching which is evidenced by good number of students competing the National Level Tests like NET.

National Symposium on 'The Hundred Years of Chemistry in India" was organized in September, 2002 which was attended by a large number of Chemists. Encouraged by the response the steps are being taken to host the National Convention of Chemists to be organized by Indian Chemical Society in December, 2003.

The quality of research in the department is evidenced by the fact that one of the teachers has got the DST Project.

One of the faculty member delivered Invitation Lecture, Chaired the first session of the Analytical Chemistry and was appointed one of the Judges of the Award Papers in 39th Annual Convention of Chemists organized by Indian Society at Nagarjuna University in A.P.

The department has started teaching of two years course of Master of Chemical Analysis in Industry and Environment which is a self financing course and it has attracted a good number of students.

Slow but steady process of research is evidenced by the continuous production of Ph. D. and Publication of research papers in standard journal of National and International level.
