The Department
hosted the 30th session of the All India History
Congress in 1968 which was attended by eminent
historians of India and abroad including
Dr. A. L. Basham of Australia.

The
third session of the All India Congress of American
History was also hosted by the Department in 1968.
-
The Department
organized Silver Jubilee function in 1989 and a
National Seminar on “Sahajanand Saraswati and Peasant
Movement" was organized.

In the
same year Dr. Bisheswar Prasad Memorial Lecture was also
instituted. The first memorial lecture was delivered by
Prof. Rothermund of Heidelberg University, Germany in
Feb. 1989 and was inaugurated by Prof. R. S. Sharma of Delhi
University.

The
department also organized Second Memorial lecture which
was delivered by Prof. R. S. Sharma, Dec. 1991.

Third
Memorial Lecture was delivered by Prof. Ashok Kumar,
I.A.S.

B. B.
Mishra Memorial lecture was also organized by the
Department.

Prof.
P. Mishra was awarded "Full Bright Smith-Munds"
scholarship in 1962-63.

Dr.
S.M. Habibuddin also went abroad through same fellowship
programme.

Dr. D.
P. Singh was awarded East-West Centre Fellowship and
went to Hawaii to pursue academic research.

The department
also undertook the publication of a research journal and has
published two volumes entitled "Recent Researches"

Prof.
Pramila Shrivastava, Prof. R. S. Tiwari, Prof. B.
D. Pandey and Prof. R. R. Mishra regularly attended
the session of Indian History Congress and participated in
deliberations of various Seminars of national and state level.

Late
Dr. Sri Govind Mishra, Retd. faculty of the Department
published his book on "Constitutional Development & National
Movement In India".

Dr. C.
P. N. Sinha, former Head of this Department, Presided as
Sectional President of Indian History Congress (Ancient India).

Prof.
Pramila Shrivastava was awarded fellowship by U.G.C.
for three years with full pay.

The
D.Litt. Thesis of Prof. R. R. Mishra was published with
grant of I.C.H.R.
-
Dr.
Rajshekhar's Ph.D. thesis entitled "Myanmar's
Nationalist Movement and India (1906-1948)" , is under
publication with the grant support of Indian Council Of
Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.

Dr.
Rajshekhar, faculty of the department has presented his
academic research papers in International Seminars at
Gothenburg University, Sweden, Halmstad University, Sweden, and
National University of Singapore (NUS),Singapore.

The department recently organized
seminars "Jay Prakash Memorial Lecture" On 4th
February,2003 and "Subhas Chandra Memorial Lecture"
on 23rd January 2003.
