The Department has got the rare privilege of organizing conferences of Indian Philosophical Congress, Akhil Bharatiya Darshan Parishad and Bihar Darshan Parishad.

The Department has also organized Refresher Course on ‘Symbolic Logic and Philosophical Analysis’.

Dr. P.N. Mandal, present Head Of department was nominated as an International Personality of the year for 2001 by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England.

Dr. Mandal is also associated with NAAC as an expert inducted in to the National Cadre of Assessors.

Dr. Pratima Ganguly, faculty member was an Ex-member of working committee of  W.C. INSEA, she is presently engaged in a Major Research project of UGC on Applied Ethics as Principal investigator.

Dr. Pratima Ganguly was nominated as Sectional President of 'Ethics and Social Philosophy Section' of Indian Philosophical Conference in 2003

Dr. R. R. Tiwari, faculty member has published several papers in Indian journals and has attended national seminars.

Dr. Purnendu Shekhar, faculty member made some significant contributions in the field of research on Patanjali’s Yoga.

Dr. Mritunjay Kumar, faculty member is presently associated with a UGC sponsored Major Research Project on Applied Ethics as a co-investigator.

The Department enjoys the distinction of being one of the oldest Departments of the University imparting quality teaching of Philosophy to the students of the Northern and Eastern Bihar.
