Acharya Prafulla Chandra College was established in 1960 under the Dispersal Scheme-with the joint participation of the State and Central Governments. The founder of the college is Late Haripada Biswas. It was called ‘New Barrackpore College’ initially. APC College has a Museum called “Acharya Prafulla Chandra Smriti Sangrahalaya”. APC College admission is done based on the merit list put up by the college.
APC college has degree courses in more than 25 subjects at both Honours and General level. It also has three vocational or major courses, five PG courses and three distant learning centers such as the Department of Distant Learning (Kalyani University), Netaji Subhas Open University and IGNOU. The college is affiliated to the West Bengal State University. APC College is also recognized by the Govt. of West Bengal and the University Grants Commission. The college is on a mission to harmonize the traditional and the experimental way of education.

APC College Eligibility Criteria:

APC College Admission:
APC College admission is offered in science and arts disciplines at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It also offers BBA which is self-financed. Students can enroll themselves by visiting the campus. Interested students pursuing UG courses such as B.A, B.Sc and BBA pass 10+2 in General or Vocational Stream conducted by West Bengal Council or equivalent. APC College admission is determined by the marks obtained in aggregate in the top four subjects necessary for determining the merit ranks. All APC College admission is done based on the merit list. The admission is also on the basis of merit in qualifying examination.
